The ASEAN Foundation Research Scholarship has been mandated to promote greater awareness of ASEAN and greater interaction among its peoples and their increased participation in ASEAN activities as well as to undertake development cooperation activities that enhance mutual assistance, address equitable economic development and reduce poverty.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Host Institution:</strong> National University of Singapore (NUS)</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong></p>
<p align="justify">These scholarships  are open to <em>bonafide</em> nationals of an  ASEAN country (except Singapore  citizens and permanent residents) and tenable in the following faculties:</p>
<ul>
<li>Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences</li>
<li>School   of Design  and Environment (Real Estate &amp; Building courses)</li>
<li>Faculty of Law</li>
<li>Lee   Kuan Yew   School  of Public Policy</li>
</ul>
<p>To qualify,  applicants must:</p>
<ul>
<li>Hold  a good bachelors degree or its equivalent and possess a strong academic record;</li>
<li>Satisfy  other admission requirements as specified by the faculty/school they apply to;</li>
<li>Submit a valid Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) result as evidence of their proficiency in the English language (for applicants whose native tongue or medium of university instruction is <span style="text-decoration: underline;">not</span> English).</li>
<li>Agree to return  and/or serve for at least 2 years in any ASEAN countries after completion of  their studies.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Scholarship Coverage:</strong></p>
<ol type="i">
<li>A monthly stipend of S$2,000;</li>
<li>Tuition, examination fees and other approved fees at  NUS;</li>
<li>A one-off air travel allowance of one single trip  ticket from home country to Singapore  upon award of the scholarship;</li>
<li>A one-off book allowance of up to S$200;</li>
<li>Accommodation subsidy of  Singapore Dollars (S$3,000) per year;</li>
<li>Graduation gown rental fees;</li>
<li>A one-off air travel allowance of one single trip ticket from Singapore to home country upon successful completion of the course leading to the award of the degree.</li>

The East-West Center Graduate Degree Fellowship provides Master&#8217;s and Doctoral funding for graduate students from Asia, the Pacific, and the U.S. to participate in educational and research programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i. Through East-West Center affiliation, awardees become part of a growing network of students and alumni forging the shape and substance of the world&#8217;s most vibrant region.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Citizens of countries in the Pacific and Asia, including Russia</li>
<li>Applicants submit both the application for East-West Center Graduate Fellowship and the graduate admissions application to the University of Hawai‘i to the East-West Center Award Services Office. Applications must be postmarked by the November 1 deadline.</li>
<li>Applicants already enrolled as classified graduate students at the University of Hawai‘i submit only the East-West Center Graduate Fellowship application.</li>
<li>Required tests include the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for applicants from non-English speaking countries, and the GRE or GMAT for all applicants as required by university departments.</li>
<li>Award recipients who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents must meet exchange visitor (J-1 visa) requirements.</li>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Objective</strong>:<br />
The objective of the Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS) is to provide Philippine nationals with opportunities for obtaining master&#8217;s degree at Japanese universities in order to support human resource development policy of the Government of the Philippines, and eventually to extend and strengthen the bilateral relationship between the Philippines and Japan.</p>
<p><strong>Host Universities:</strong></p>

<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong></p>
<p>Nationality: Must be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines.</p>
<p>Age: Below 40 years old as of April 1, 2010. (Those who were born on/after April 2, 1970)</p>
<p>Occupation: Should be a civilian government employee.</p>
<p>Work Experience: Currently employed in government with permanent status and with at least 2 years work experience at the time of application.</p>
<p>Performance Rating: Has a performance rating of at least “very satisfactory” in the organization at the time of nomination.</p>
<p>Academic Background: Should have a Bachelor&#8217;s degree relevant to the target fields. For ICT field, Applicant is required to have a bachelor&#8217;s degree in ICT or equivalent.</p>
<p>Degree: Has not been awarded foreign scholarship for Master&#8217;s degree.</p>

The aim of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Academic Fellowships for Asia and Pacific is to analyse issues from the human development perspective, with a focus on fostering creative thinking and innovative research on the subject among young people.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong><br />
•  Be a citizen of a developing country in the Asia Pacific region<br />
•  Have a Masters degree in a relevant discipline such as a social science, liberal arts, or management and be   currently enrolled as a full time Ph.D. student<br />
•  Have identified a human development-related topic<br />
•  Submit a proposal approved by her/his direct supervisor at the University in which Ph.D. is being pursued<br />
•  Be younger than age 30. In exceptional cases the age requirement may be relaxed to 35 years to accommodate candidates who have returned to fulltime study after a period of work and/or family responsibilities<br />
•  Not be a UN Staff member</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Scholarship Coverage:</strong><br />
US$ 10,000 funds will be used to develop a dissertation on a pre-approved topic. In addition, Fellows may be expected to present their work in workshops/seminars and other events arranged by UNDP (travel-related costs will be covered separately).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Objective</strong>:<br />
The Nippon Foundation Fellowships for Asian Public Intellectuals (API Fellowships Program) is designed to stimulate the creation of a pool of such intellectuals in the region. They aim to promote mutual learning among Asian public intellectuals and to contribute to the growth of public spaces in which effective responses to regional needs can be generated.</p>
<p><strong>Host Institutions: </strong><br />
The project must be carried out in any of the API Participating Countries, but NOT in your native country or country of residence. <p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Eligibility:</strong><br />
Anyone involved in the production and exchange of knowledge or ideas in line with the goals of API Fellowships Program. This includes academics, researchers, media professionals, artists, writers, NGO workers, social workers, public servants and others who work for the betterment of society.  General eligibility requirements include:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;">- Applicants must hold the nationality or proper resident status in one of the five (5) Participating Countries and reside in the country at the time of application;</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;">- Applicants must attend an interview at a designated date and place;</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;">- The proposed project by the applicant must take place and should be completed within the period of July 1, 2010 to July 31, 2011 (Note: The fellowship period must be continuous.);</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;">- Applicants must have a basic knowledge of English or a language(s) spoken in the country(ies) where the proposed research and/or activities are conducted; and</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px; text-align: justify;">Applicants must be based in the region/country and will continue to be so in the future.</p>

<span>The SEARCA MS/PhD Scholarships aims to ensure the relevance and responsiveness of Southeast Asia&#8217;s agricultural scientists and professionals to global sustainable development issues.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Eligibility:</strong><br />
<span>Open to nationals of SEAMEO member countries, namely: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam, who are regular employees of academic or research institutions or government agencies. Applicants must not be more than 35 years old. Proposed thesis research of applicants should focus on SEARCA&#8217;s priority thrusts.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Scholarship Coverage:</strong><br />
The scholarship covers tuition and other school fees; book and supplies allowance; thesis/ dissertation support; insurance and travel (roundtrip air ticket from home country to study post and local transportation), and a stipend of $400/month for food, lodging and incidental expenses.
